The 20-year-old singer from Clarksville, Iowa, who brought powerhouse performances to the top-rating singing competition American Idol, beats Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Gabby Barrett in the public vote.
On Sunday, the Top 3 finalists performed three songs each — Hometown Dedication, Reprise Performance and Winner’s Single.
Maddie Poppe brought outstanding performances of Landslide and Don’t Ever Let Your Children Grow Up.
She also performed her coronation song called “Going Going Gone” as her first single during the finale episode.
The winner was announced at the end of a two-hour finale featuring performances from Idol past contestants, Idol Judges, Nick Jonas, Bebe Rexha and many more.
Maddie Poppe took home the cash prize and earned a recording contract deal with Big Machine.
