Mayon Volcano in Albay erupts and spews large ash cloud at around 12pm on Monday, January 22, 2018.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has raised alert level 4 over Albay province following the eruption.
The danger zone is extended from six kilometer to eight kilometers.
Officials suspended classes in all levels private and public in the whole province of Albay. All are advised to wear their face masks and to stay indoors.
“The public is reminded to observe the danger zone — not to panic, but in essence just be ready. Prepare either gas masks, handkerchiefs or clothes to prevent inhalation of fine ash,” PHIVOLCS director Renato Solidum said in an interview with CNN.
