Bagyong Urduja has intensified into a tropical storm as it continues to threaten Samar Province, weather agency PAGASA said on Thursday, December 14, 2017.
According to reports, Bagyong Urduja is located at 90 km East Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar on Thursday.
Tropical Depression Urduja is packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Urduja is forecast to move West at 7 kph.
It is expected to intensify in the next 36 hours and may hit Bicol region on Sunday.
As of this posting, no tropical cyclone warning signal issued.
According to PAGASA, Urduja’s estimate rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.
Fisherfolks and those with small sea crafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and of Caraga due to moderate to rough seas associated with the approaching Tropical Depression.
