Magnitude 8 Earthquake Shakes Southern Mexico


A Magnitude 8 earthquake jolts near coast of Chiapas, Mexico at 11:49 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2017.

According toUS Geological Survey, the earthquake hit offshore 120 kilometers (75 miles) southwest of the town of Tres Picos in the state of Chiapas.

US Tsunami Warning System says there’s potential tsunami threat to several Central American countries — Hawaii, Guam are being evaluated.

Possible aftershocks and damages are expected.
