Marathoner Mary Joy Tabal wins the first gold for the Philippine in the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games women’s marathon event held at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday, August 19, 2019.
The 28-year-old runner finished the 42-kilometer race with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 48 minutes and 22 seconds.
Mary Joy Tabal was declared as the gold medalist, Vietnam wins the silver and bronze for Thailand.

Mary Joy Tabal is one of the thirty eight athletes representing the country’s Aethletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) in Malaysia.
So far, Philippines has one gold, one silver, and two bronzes followung the SEA Games opening ceremony on Saturday.
