A 7.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Sarangani in Davao Occidental, Mindanao at 4:23 am on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
According to The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs, the epicenter was at 05.02°N, 125.24°E – 053 km S 30° W of Sarangani. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth 57 kms.
Intensity V was felt in General Santos City; Koronadal City; Santa Maria, Jose Abad Santos, Don Marcelino, Balot Island, Davao Occidental; Polomolok, Tupi, South Cotabato; Alabel, Malapatan, Glan, Sarangani; Palimbag, Sultan Kudarat.
Intensity IV in Davao City; Cotabato City; Zamboanga City. Intensity III in Cagayan De Oro City while intensity II in Kidapawan City.
Tsunami warnings has been cancelled. Possible aftershocks and damages are expected.
