Former Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago has passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016. She was 71.
According to her husband Atty. Jun Santiago, Miriam Defensor Santiago dies in her sleep.
“She died peacefully in her sleep this morning,” Santiago said.
Miriam Santiago was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in June 2014. Her health started to deteriorate after the 2016 election.
