Grace Poe has been disqualified from 2016 Presidential Election — Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced the shocking news on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
According to reports, Grace Poe was disqualified for not meeting the residency requirement of the Constitution for presidential candidates.
Comelec said that Poe is two months short to the 10-year residency requirement mandated by the Constitution for a presidential candidate. Poe became a resident on July 2006 when she applied for dual citizenship.
Report also said that Poe’s lawyers insisted that she became a resident in May 2005. Poe’s camp will make an appeal regarding the matter.
