Pamana, the Philippine Eagle released into the wild on 2015 Independence Day, has been shot dead.

Two months after being released into the wild, Pamana has been found dead 1 kilometer from Barangay La Union, San Isidro, Davao Oriental, the place where he was freed during the 117th celebration of Philippine Independence Day on June 12, 2015.

Initial investigation revealed that Pamana has a gunshot wound on his right breast.

Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) said they have yet to identify the person behind the killing of Pamana.

The 3-year-old philippine eagle is just one of the last 400 Philippine eagles in the country.
