DOST to launch free public Wi-Fi project

The free public Wi-Fi project of the Philippine government will be launched on July 24, says Department of Science and Technology.

DOST officials confirmed that the government’s free public Wi-Fi project is scheduled to launch during the annual National Science and Technology week on July 24, 2015.

According to the agency, the launch of the project will help test the system. The System can accept up 105,000 users and they are expecting 4,550 users at the same time.

A 50MB limit is assigned to a user per day. If the user reached the limit, they can still connect but the speed is downgraded.

The areas first to receive the free public Wi-Fi service are the following: Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City Hall, PHILCOA Building, SSS and LTO office in Quezon City, and Rizal Park.

DOST will soon expand the free public Wi-Fi service nationwide.
