On Friday, July 31st, the Moon will be special — it’s a Blue Moon!
Despite of its colorful name, the Blue Moon on Friday is no different from a regular full moon. It simply means the second full moon of the month, so don’t expect to see a bluish painted night.
NASA said, “July has already had one full moon on July 2nd. The next, on July 31st, is by definition a Blue Moon.”
But will the moody Moon of July 31st actually turn blue? Probably not.
Most Blue Moons look pale gray and white, indistinguishable from any other Moon you’ve ever seen. Squeezing a second full Moon into a calendar month doesn’t change the physical properties of the Moon itself, so its color remains the same.
The Blue moon will appear tonight will be broadcast live online by Slooh Space Camera.
