Janet Napoles Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Illegally Detaining Benhur Luy


Janet Napoles has been found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment for serious illegal detention.

Judge Elmo Alameda of Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 sentenced Janet Napoles to life imprisonment after finding her guilty of illegally detaining her former employee Benhur Luy. The decision was announced on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

Napoles was also ordered to pay Luy P50,000 for civil indemnity and P50,000 for moral damages.

Janet Napoles and her brother Reynald Lim, who remain at large, were accused of illegally detaining Benhur Luy from December 2012 to March 2013 at the posh Pacific Plaza Towers in Taguig.

Benhur Luy serves as the whistle blower to the pork barrel scam and considered as principal witness in the cases faced by Napoles.
