Was Anthony Riley Disqualified From The Voice?

While The Voice and Anthony Riley did not disclose the real reason behind his departure from the show, speculations began to circulate online that the singer has been disqualified.

We earlier cited a rumor coming from a gossip site saying that Riley refuses to be paired with another team member, Mia Z — people did not buy that and think of a much deeper and more valid reasons.

One thing people looking at is his March 10 tweet showing support to some controversial political figure. His tweet, along a video, reads:

“I dedicate my Battle Round Victory to Mumia Abu Jamal and political prisoners everywhere. #Free Mumia.”

Online source said but did not confirm that this Twitter post might have caused him to get disqualified on the The Voice.

On the lighter side of the story, Jett Prescott, a friend of Anthony Riley, says the speculations are not true.

He claimed that Riley had a difficult time and working through some personal matters that do not allow him to commit to The Voice right now.

“He is indeed working through very personal life matters affecting his ability to commit to The Voice. Just to quell the rumors, it has nothing to do with his ego or refusing to compete. You can expect BIG things from Anthony Riley next year.”

Anthony Riley on Monday was announced no longer be part of The Voice Season 8. His coach, Pharrell Williams, said that Riley will not coming back on the competition for “personal reasons.”
