A 6.0 magnitude earthquake shakes Luzon at around 3:31 am on Sunday, January 11, 2015.
According to The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs, the epicenter was at 43 km southwest of San Antonio, Zambales. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth 85 kms.
Intensity 4 was felt in Pasig City, Pasay City, Manila City, Quezon City, Hagonoy, Bulacan, Makati City, San Mateo, Rizal, Obando and Bulacan.
Intensity 3 was felt in Tagaytay City, San Miguel, Tarlac and Intensity 2 in Baguio City and Batangas City.
No Tsunami warning given after the quake. “The earthquake was too deep and the magnitude was not powerful enough to generate a seismic sea wave,” said Phivolcs.
No expected damage from magnitude 6.0 quake but aftershocks can be expected.
