Viral: Lyrebird Imitates Laser Gun, Monkey and Man-made Noises

To impress a female, this unbelievable songbird breaks out the sampler to get a mate!

Lyrebird can mimic the call of other birds and 20 other different species. Not just that, it can also imitate some man-made noises like chainsaw, car alarm and camera shutter.

An amateur video uploaded by Wen Hao Lee on YouTube shows a Lyrebird imitating the sound of a laser beam and some sci-fi sound effects.

Another video from BBC shows a Lyrebird imitating a kookaburra, a camera shutter, a camera with motor drive, a car alarm and a chainsaw.

According to wikipedia, Lyrebird most notable for their superb ability to mimic natural and artificial sounds from their environment. As well as their extraordinary mimicking ability, lyrebirds are notable because of the striking beauty of the male bird’s huge tail when it is fanned out in display; and also because of their courtship display.
