Miss Philippines Jamie Herrell is Miss Earth 2014 Winner


Miss Philippines Jamie Herrell is the crowned winner of Miss Earth 2014 pageant – the announcement was made at the end of the Miss Earth 2014 coronation night held at the UP Diliman Theater on Saturday November 30, 2014.

Jamie Herrell of Philippines bested 84 other candidates from around the world.

During the Question and Answer portion, Herrell was asked “if she win tonight’s crown, what she will do to help slow down or reverse the effects of global warming?”

Her answer: “Global warming has been known for being long overdue issue, that is why if I am crowned tonight, I will use my title to inspire others, to help our environment, and we start with the kids. Because the kids are the people of tomorrow, and if we teach them, they will also help their community. And that’s what I will do if I am crowned Miss Earth tonight.”

Other winners are: Miss Earth Air: USA, Andrea Neu; Miss Earth Water: Venezuela, Maira Alexandra Rodríguez; and Miss Earth Fire: Russia, Anastasia Trusova.

Jamie Herrell received the crown form Miss Earth 2013 title holder Alyz Henrich of Venezuela after the announcement.

Miss Earth pageant aims to raise awareness to the tourists and travelers regarding ecological conservation in order to directly benefit the economic development and to foster respect for different cultures and for human rights.
