Joan Rivers died on Thursday, September 4, 2014. She is 81.
It was reported that Joan Alexandra Molinsky, better known as Joan Rivers, passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York on Thursday.
The veteran comedian and TV personality was hospitalized for the past week. Joan Rivers suffered cardiac arrest while undergoing medical procedure in her throat at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic, which resulted the actress to be in coma.
Melissa Rivers, daughter of Joan, said in a press statement:
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17 pm surrounded by family and close friends.”
“My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother.”
“Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.”
“My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
Joan Rivers is the host of E!’s popular TV show Fashion Police.
River’s funeral will be at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan on Sunday.
