Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago is Miss International 2013!
Bea Rose Santiago, 23, from the Philippines bested 66 other contestant during the Miss International 2013 grand coronation night held at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall in Tokyo, Japan on December 17, 2013.
During the question and answer portion, which asked the top five finalists what they would if they win the Miss International pageant, Santiago said: “The whole world saw how my country suffered. One by one, other countries helped. You have opened my heart and eyes on what we can do to help each other.”
She added, “I will work to sustain the spirit of sympathy and spirit of hope. As long as we work together, there is hope.”
Bea Santiago is the country’s 5th Miss International title holder after Gemma Cruz (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979) and Lara Quigaman (2005).
Santiago was born in Alabang, Muntinlupa City and spent her grade school and early high school years in Cataingan, Masbate. Her family moved to Canada when she was 16. She’s pursuing a degree in Communications (major in Public Relations) at York University in Toronto when she was lured by the glam of modeling and beauty pageants.
Other winners are Miss France Marine Lorphelin in second place and Miss Ghana Naa Shooter in third place.
