The Philippines under President Rodrigo Duterte will host the ASEAN Summit in 2017!
The Philippines will be hosting the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the ASEAN across 11 cities which include the 30th and 31st ASEAN Summits in Mactan, Cebu and Clark, Pampanga respectively.
The official launch of the Philippine chairmanship will be on January 5, 2017 in Davao City.
The theme of the 2017 ASEAN Summit is “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World.”

Meanwhile, President Duterte formally accepts the chairmanship of the ASEAN for 2017 at the National Convention Center in Laos on Thursday, September 8, 2016.
“With great honor and humility, I accept the chairmanship of the Asean from our excellent host, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. I look forward to seeing you all in the Philippines in 2017,” he said.
According to the President, Philippines’ chairmanship will highlight Asean as a model of regionalism and a global player, with the interest of the people at its core.
