President Duterte led the distribution of family food packs to beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development on Thursday — the recipients are the families displaced by armed conflicts in Basilan.

Duterte visited Tabiawan, Isabela City in Basilan on Thursday. His agenda includes meeting the top police and military officials and the families affected by the ongoing military operations against Abu Sayyaf.
In his speech, Duterte called on the Abu Sayyaf group to stop its kidnapping activities.
“I am pleading for peace. You have committed so many crimes. There’s kidnapping and killing.. what’s the benefit? We are here, let’s talk about peace,” Duterte said.
