The next President of the Philippines is about to be named!


It’s Election day! The much-awaited Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections will happen today, Monday, May 9, 2016.

This will be the 16th presidential election in the Philippines since 1935, and the sixth sextennial presidential election since 1986. This will be a part of the 2016 general election where elections to the Senate, House of Representatives and local government above the barangay level, including the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao shall be held.

Vying for presidency are Jejomar Binay, Rodrigo Duterte, Grace Poe, Mar Roxas, and Miriam Defensor Santiago. Running for vice president are Alan Peter Cayetano, Chiz Escudero, Gringo Honasan, Antonio Trillanes IV, Bongbong Marcos and Leni Robredo.

Where to watch Philippine Presidential Election 2016 Live Coverage?

ABS-CBN will launch Halalan 2016, a marathon coverage beginning 5am until Tuesday. GMA 7 will also host a live coverage called Eleksyon 2016. Philippine Presidential Election 2016 live streaming links and channel on YouTube are yet to be announced.
