The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) criticized Eat Bulaga for using Muslim dress as Halloween costume during October 31, 2015 episode.
The ARMM and muslims community has asked Joey de Leon and Tito Sotto to apologize for mocking their image after appearing on Saturday’s episode of Eat Bulaga wearing thobe as Halloween costumes.
“This display betrays an insensitivity by these hosts, as they equated the Muslim garb as a costume to be feared, in the way that zombies and ghouls are to be feared,” ARMM governor Mujiv Hataman said in a statement issued to MindaNews.
“What Eat Bulaga did in its Halloween Special was a mockery of and an affront to the image of the Muslim, apparently in the name of entertainment,” he added.
On behalf of the Filipino Moro people, we demand that producers and hosts of the noontime show issue a public apology,” Hataman said.
On social media, Netizens also criticized Eat Bulaga saying that Joey de Leon and Tito Sotto disrespect and insult Muslims.
Joey de Leon, Tito Sotto and Eat Bulaga producers has not made any comments yet about the issue.
