President Aquino ‘No-Show’ at SAF Arrival Honors, Attends Mitsubishi Event

Netizens criticized President Benigno Aquino III for not showing on SAF Arrival Honors at the Villamor Air Base on Thursday.

The remains of 44 SAF members who died in the encounter at the Mamasapano, Maguindanao arrived at the Villamor Air Base on Thursday but President Benigno Aquino III was not present in fallen heroes arrival.

Apparently, he was at the inauguration event of Mitsubishi Motors in Laguna.

With this, netizens expressed their disappointments to President Aquino and took to Twitter, where #NasaanAngPangulo hash tag trended worldwide.

The Malacanang later clarifies that President Aquino did not skip the heroes’ arrival but just follow his schedule for that day.

“The President did not skip the arrival honors. It presupposes he was originally scheduled to attend it, which was not the case. The President will lead the necrological services tomorrow (Jan. 30) at 10am at Camp Bagong Diwa,” said Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte.
