Fake photo of a giant squid is making rounds online!

A website claims that a Giant Squid has again washed ashore in the beach of Santa Monica, Californaia. The photo above showing a 160-foot-long monster squid began spreading online yesterday.

The article claims that the squid was a victim of radiation from Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.

“Scientists believe that following the 2011 disaster at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant an unknown number of sea creatures suffered genetic mutations that triggered uncontrolled growth – or “radioactive gigantism.”

However, National Geographic says the photo was fake citing the largest giant squid ever recorded by scientists only measures 43 feet or 12 meters long which is  nowhere close to the supposed 160-foot or 49-meter in length of the giant squid that’s taken over the Internet.
