KTVU wrongly reported the names of the pilots on Asiana Flight 214 that crash landed on San Francisco Airport.
The California Bay Area news channel KTVU appeared to be pranked by someone when they reported the names of the pilots in the Asiana Flight 214 on live television.
“KTVU was just learned the names of the four pilots who were on board the flight. They are Captain Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, Ho Lee Fuk, and Bang Ding Ow,” the news anchor says in a video showing news broadcast station.
These names are obviously fake and was called by many as racist prank.
Apparently, it wasn’t KTVU’s fault, but an intern at the NTSB who gave the racist names.
The channel quickly apologized in a statement, saying later in the broadcast:
“Earlier in the newscast we gave some names of pilots involved in the Asiana Airlines crash. These names were not accurate despite an NTSB official in Washington confirming them late this morning. We apologize for the error.”
