Folgers Jingle contest next phase starts May 15th

Folgers announced their this year’s Jingle contest early this year and submissions from artists around the U.S. were accepted until March 6, 2013. The contest is meant for amateur musicians with no recording, model, acting, or other kind of performance-related contract.

The submission requirement was all submissions had to be anywhere between 60 and 90 seconds in length and include the melody and lyrics from the iconic “The Best Part of Wakin’ Up is Folgers in Your Cup.” The full set of official rules of the contest can be found at the contest website.

From May 15th to June 19th, 2013, ten best versions will be put up for public voting and the winner will get a check for $25 000. However, also people voting will be able to win a grand prize of $10 000 just for giving their vote to the best rendition of the jingle. Each week of the voting also Folgers Coffee, a signed Gavin DeGraw CD as well as iTunes gift cards are given out. Random Drawings will be done every day to find out the daily prize winners.

The original Folgers Jingle was composed by Leslie Pearl and debuted in 1984, and since then has been rendered into a number of different music styles.
