Idol’s Final Four Haley Reinhart got slammed, fights back and steals the show on American Idol live performances, Wednesday.
Haley Reinhart chooses Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” for the “songs that inspire” theme. Haley’s performance of MJ’s classic was slashed by Randy and J-Lo noting that it was a creamy-pitchy rendition of the song.
“These are the things I didn’t like about what you did…It confused me about who you are as an artist,” Randy told her. “The song didn’t suit you. It felt like you were screaming at the end and you were at the top of your range. The song needed you to deliver it. I didn’t like it…I thought it was a bad song.”
While Steven Tyler thought…”They’re both wrong! It wasn’t a hit song but you nailed it with feeling, pushed it over the top and America heard it.”
But the strong and determined 20-year-old singer never let her guards down, Reinhart fights back and brought some Drama to the stage under the supervision of the pop royalty no other than Lady Gaga. “How would you feel about getting a little psycho?” Gaga asked her. “Give them drama. Give them Edith Piaf,” Haley answered.
Taking on a dramatic rendition of Ben E. King hit “I Who Have Nothing,” Haley comes back strong on her second performance.
“Everybody needs a moment tonight,” Randy told her. “You just had a moment right here. … This is what you have to do, and you did it,” he added.
“This is why we can’t take it easy on you, baby,” Jennifer says. “Look what you’re capable of! … That was amazing. One of the best performances of the year,” she added.
For Steven, “This was a classic moment with classic Haley! You just Reinharted yourself into the middle of next week,” he told Haley.
Will it be Haley Reinhart? Watch tonight’s result show and find out if she will make it to Final Three.
